WELCOME TO MASIS SCHOOL
Who We Are
Head of School Welcome
It is a great honor for me to introduce you to a community of unique and creative learning!
When visiting our school, you will feel the warmth of a home and an atmosphere protected by family values. MASIS is a synonym for family, and like all families, we care for the most important human resource: our students and personnel, which is our reason for being. Success is no coincidence, and that is why we evaluate, analyze, and make decisions daily based on data with the sole purpose of improving and achieving academic excellence. In the words of ancient Greek Philosopher and Scientist Aristotle- “Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we have those virtues or excellence because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
We have succeeded in so many ways. As of last year, we have graduated dozens of students who are currently enrolled in different colleges and universities in Puerto Rico and throughout the United States. We all embraced them and celebrated their success. One of the most powerful expressions of Excellency is seen through the various types of debates that take place in our classrooms. Students and teachers are analyzing politics or finding solutions to problems related to class subjects or issues affecting today’s society. I encourage each one of you to embrace academic excellence, the kind of Excellency that begins to shape our children most powerfully, through the formation of positive thinking and empowerment.
I want to emphasize and express my gratitude to the teachers of MASIS who have believed in Excellency in the classroom. As they prepare for class every morning and end an exhausting day, to return the next day with the same level of energy and commitment. I could not talk about excellence without their true commitment to each student who enters their classroom eager to learn new skills, and of course, to each parent who believes in this family-oriented school, MASIS.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Miriam Avilés Soto
